What is Coarctation of Aorta (CoA) ?
Coarctation of the aorta (CoA) is a congenital heart defect that involves a narrowing or constriction of the aorta, which is the main artery that carries oxygenated blood from the heart to the rest of the body. This narrowing can cause high blood pressure and other complications.
CoA can occur in different parts of the aorta, including the area just beyond where the blood vessels that supply the upper body branch off from the aorta (called the "juxtaductal" or "pre-ductal" region), or the area beyond where the blood vessels that supply the lower body branch off (called the "post-ductal" region).
What are the Symptoms of CoA?
It can include high blood pressure, chest pain, shortness of breath, and leg cramps. If left untreated, CoA can lead to heart failure, stroke, or other serious health problems.
Regarding pointers, in computer programming, a pointer is a variable that stores the memory address of another variable or object. When you create a pointer, you are essentially creating a reference to the location in memory where the object is stored. You can then use the pointer to access or modify the object indirectly.
